Why Vonage Rocks!

Vonage Rocks! Why?

1. It only costs about $25/month (plus tax) for the unlimited plan. If you're really frugal you can pre-pay annually: it only costs about $240/year (plus tax) for the unlimited plan.

2. When you refer a friend you and a friend can get up to two months free (up to about a $50 value each) as a reward. Would you like a referral? Please send me an email at my Yahoo! email address jonathan_gengler (at) yahoo.com and I'll get it started. Realistically, if someone can refer a friend every few months or so the service quickly becomes very inexpensive indeed as long as the promotion continues.

3. Its best features are about as good as it gets without actually paying for a "real" phone line. For example, the online voicemail is great if you don't have an actual answering machine connected and for when the service is not working. That is, you will notice that the service is not working periodically (in my experience, for a short timeframe about once per month or so).

4. I feel that everyone who has high speed internet and cell phone(s), but does not want to pay for a "real" phone should use Vonage. It provides a home phone number that is actually reasonably priced. Yes, it will not work if the power is out and the e911 service is not the same as 911 service on a "real" phone; however, I can no longer justify paying "the phone company" double what Vonage charges for a vastly similar service.

5. You can make calls to most places in North America and some Western European countries (some restrictions apply) for one low rate. In addition, there is also a really sneaky way for people in most places in North America and some Western European countries (some restrictions apply) to call you and have it count as a local call. Basically, they can call a "Vonage Access" number which counts as a local call for them (much cheaper than a long-distance call for some people) and then they enter your phone number to talk to you. You have Vonage, but non-Vonage customers can benefit as a result.

6. All in all, Vonage Rocks!

I am not affiliated with Vonage in any way and I cannot provide support for their services or any similar assistance. However, I do enjoy knowing that I pay about $1 per day for "pretend" home phone service instead of about $2 per day for "real" home phone service.
